The Mullberry Centre are seeking a Welfare Benefits Information Lead to join a small, dynamic team. You will provide support for people affected by cancer or COVID-19 to access and claim welfare benefits, grants and other financial support that may be available to them. This includes informing people on the financial support available to them, making applications on their behalf and following this through to result.
This vital role will suit an enthusiastic and proactive person who has excellent communication skills, being able to deal with complex matters effectively, both orally and in writing. You will need to have the skills to interview people. The ideal applicant will have emotional resilience to deal with people who are sick or may be at the ‘end of life’ stage of life, their carers, family and / or friends. An empathetic and compassionate approach is important, with a desire to make a difference to people affected by cancer and COVID-19. The Welfare Benefits Information Lead will be at the forefront of our client-based services and need to be self-motivated with a positive and flexible attitude.
Essential experience: You have worked with welfare and benefits claims directly or as an advisor, or you have a good working knowledge of this area in a professional capacity.
This is a six-month contract initially for 16 hours per week working remotely, with an increase in hours over the six months, averaging out at 22.5 hours per week.
