Commissioning and Tendering
Commissioning and tendering are two parts of the process of contracting out services (often traditionally delivered by the public sector) to voluntary, community or private business groups.
As grants become less available you might decide that this is something your organisation will become involved in to sustain its’ existence and services. Commissioning and Tendering is sometimes also called Commissioning and Procurement.
There are a number of websites providing information and guidance.
- Community Matters offers a good explanation to the question, “I’m still confused about this whole commissioning and tendering process. Can you explain?”
- ACEVO Charity Leaders Network provides a fact sheet on ‘An Introduction to Commissioning and Tendering’.
- ACEVO have also produced ‘Tendering and Bidding Briefing: Give your tender a winning chance‘
National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) offer a lot of helpful information on the Commissioning and Procurement, including the ‘Beginners Guide to Commissioning‘ to get you started.
NAVCA also offer training courses designed to help you navigate the changing world of commissioning and procurement and have a number of resources, publications and links to help with your development work. Visit the NAVCA website for more information.
